Internet Advertising has a broader scope than traditional advertising
Commercial world is highly competitive to day and advertising for promoting the products and services is your major concern. There was a time when people depended mostly on newspaper advertising for giving wide publicity to the articles they were marketing. The publicity was limited to the specific readers and circulation area of the newspapers.
Advertisers also often resorted to outdoor advertising setting up large hoardings and banners. But again they were limited to the local viewers and occasional visitors and were quite expensive. The results were not always to the liking of the advertiser.
Inventive advertisers also used magazine advertising and radio advertising to promote their business and pass their messages on to the potential customers. With the arrival of electronic media like TV and Video, the scope of advertisement became wider but again it was limited to the areas where the channels were visited and viewers who viewed those channels. In any of these advertising media there was no scope for making a global impact as these Medias rarely crossed their respective national borders.
Arrival of Internet and World Wide Web completely changed the scenario and revolutionized the ad world. There were no more any geographical barrier and people are able to reach the remotest corner of the globe with Internet advertising to communicate with the potential customers. The customers on their turn had the global market to choose their required articles from a host of items displayed on the Internet and this they could do having all information at their disposal sitting at the cool comforts of their home.
